Changes!!

I have been pretty quiet these days on the blog… but for a really good (well… I justify it as ‘really good’) reason. I am making some exciting changes to my business. I have thought long an hard about where I want to go in life and in my business, and how I want to make my dreams and goals become realities and accomplishments.

When I decided to start a photography business I pondered over several different business names for months. (You can ask my friends, I about wore them out with the decision.) Finally I settled on the name “Ingenious Life: Captured”. I wanted to portray that I could capture moments in my clients’ life, but also that their life was “ingenious”  or “marked by originality”. Very soon after I started using my business name, it was shortened for different reasons on different occasions. Ingenious Life: Captured developed in Ingenious Life Photography and sometime shortened even further to “IL”. This development was never anything that I had intended to happen, but it did anyway.

Throughout the journey of my starting my business I have meet some amazing people and made some very dear friends. I have also learned more that I ever thought I would need to know about photography, business and who I am as a person. After much debate, discussion with some very insightful people, and several pro and con lists, I have decided to drop my business name and just be known as me, Rebecca Chloé.

I have started a new Facebook page, and will be switching everything over gradually during the next couple of months. I am SOOO SUPER excited about this change! I will be blogging and sharing about things other than just photography and weddings. I want to share my life and who I am as a person and photographer. I want you to get to know me, and if you get to know me and who I am, you will know FOR SURE if you want me (or if you don’t want me) to be a part of one of the biggest events of your life.

Follow me on Pinterest, like me on Facebook, and follow me on Twitter (@rebeccachloe_  and don’t forget the _ at the end)

I can’t wait to reveal everything to you, but for now here is a sneak peek to all the very cool changes…..my new logo!

Friday Favorite: Hurstbourne Country Club Weddings

For today’s Friday Favorite I went back and found this awesome image of a bride with her bridesmaids. This wedding reception took place at the Hurstbourne Country Club.

I love great architecture and this place has it. This facade  was brought over from Europe and rebuilt piece by piece on the golf course of the country club. The event planner at the country club furnished the entire wedding party with golf carts and allowed us to go out on the course for portraits. This was a beautiful venue that can accommodate wedding and receptions or either. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. This is a great place to check out if you are looking for a Louisville wedding venue or Louisville Reception Venue.

Thanks for stopping by!

Smile,
Rebecca

Wedding Shoes ~ Sock it to ‘em

The past few Shoe-tastic stories that I’ve posted, we’ve talked about wearing shoes. Everybody sees your shoes, especially the guys shoes. Some brides or other people involved in the wedding planning might not be too keen on the idea of the guys or girls wearing shoes that “express their personality.” If that’s the case, don’t fret we can still find ways to express yourself on the down low… shhhh, just keep it a secret.

So here’s what you can do… WEAR COOL SOCKS! Oh Yeah! I said it! You can wear awesome rockin’ socks! Crazy colors, super silly scenes, or dazzling designs all on your SOCKS! Then during the pictures you and your groomsmen or bridesmaids or entire wedding party can ROCK OUT with your SOCKS OUT!

Some awesome ideas…

  • argyle
  • wedding colors
  • seamed stockings
  • fishnet stockings
  • striped socks

Ok, so hopefully this has helped spark your creativity for fun wedding ideas. So remember when you are planning your day, don’t forget to add in fun details even if you and your wedding photographer are the only ones who know about them…. Oh, but be sure to tell your wedding photographer, if they are anything like me, they will LOVE all the fun little details.

Thanks for stopping by!

SMILE,

Rebecca

Here are a few pictures of cool wedding socks and stockings that I came across on Pinterest.com a great wedding planning resource. These are not my pictures but are linked up to the original photographer’s website if it is available. I love celebrating other artists work whenever I can!

What do you do for fun?

I want to give you a window into who I am, as well as post about wedding stuff… This is the first of  many posts to give you a peek into what makes me, ME:)

I stay pretty busy like most people, but I do have some time in my life that I chose to use in ways that I want to. It’s my “ME” time…

I like to do all kinds of different things in my “ME” time… Photography, scrapbooking, spending time with my friends and family, traveling, enjoying nature, shopping… I am really across the board on the things that I like to do.

About 11 months ago, I started thinking about getting back into shape. I have always been kind of athletic and have always had the hunger to improve my health and body, but I had gained weight and was very uncomfortable with myself. I started running several years ago. I trained for and ran in several races up to and including the 2011 Kentucky Derby Mini-Marathon, but all of that never seemed to improve my weight or my health. I started thinking about and researching women’s bodybuilding.

Through this research I learned that there are several different divisions of women’s bodybuilding. These divisions are all pretty different, but I still didn’t know very much about them. I knew I didn’t want to be really big and that I wanted to see all of the divisions in action. I took a trip up to the 2011 NPC Northern Kentucky Body Building Competition last Feburary. I drove up by myself and sat off to the side of the stage and graded papers. There was a very nice couple that sat in front of me who were patient enough to answer all of my silly questions about why one person placed higher than another, but the most important part of my night was when I met Julie Lohre.

Julie had a booth in the lobby of the competition and her husband Rick was manning the booth the first time I strolled by. I took a card, looked around, then went back and sat down. I went out later and Julie was there, I talked to her for a few minutes, she suggested online training, but I thought pssssh, online training, I can do this, I’ve been doing it for years… right? WRONG!

I came home, decided that I wanted to compete in women’s bodybuilding and told my family and friends my goal. I scrounged up a diet or two from different people in the gym, went to work at 12 weeks and counted down. I got down to 8 weeks out and realized that I was NO WHERE NEAR READY to walk on a stage in something that tiny in 8 WEEKS, but I couldn’t just quit, I had told people that I was going to do this, I had publicized this goal of mine. I COULDN’T QUIT!

Julie’s card had sat in my key bowl, next to the garage door, since I came home from the Northern Kentucky. I saw it everyday when I left the house. I knew if I was going to achieve my goal, I had to change something, and that something was going to include Julie. I remember getting my first phone call from her sitting in the parking lot of the gym. She was so positive and encouraging about everything. I thought, “Heck Yeah, I can do this.” A week or two later I had my first meeting with her. We found out very quickly that my goal date was not going to be doable… I cried… a lot. I had no idea what kind of commitment I was making, but I had already made the decision I was going to do it. The only thing I could do was move forward. So I did.

I worked with Julie and then joined her Team Fitbody to have support and training for my very first competition, and let me just tell you, this was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my entire life. Very few things in my life can compare to the experience and the people I have met along this journey….

Journey details coming soon…..
